My fridge is not complete without a jar of this sauce!
I have always been the biggest fan of barbecue sauce! Whenever anything calls for it, I normally have to double or triple the amount 🤣. I’m also always looking for ways to reduce the amount of high fructose corn syrup I consume, and with how much barbecue sauce I use, making my own is a great way to do that. This recipe took a lot of trial and error, but I’ve finally made a recipe that makes me happy never to buy a bottle at a store again! This sauce is tangy, sweet, spicy, and smooth, and I could eat it right out of the jar.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1 tbsp molasses
- 1/4 cup maple syrup or brown sugar
- 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sriracha
- optional: 1 tbsp coconut aminos or vegan Worcestershire sauce
Method:
- All you need to do is combine all ingredients in a bowl, whisk, taste, and adjust the flavors to your liking. This is just my favorite combo, of course!
- Put this on everything! I love using it for my tofu wraps, cauliflower wings, and chickpea wraps. Enjoy & share!
NOTES:
- Make sure you use organic ketchup and pure maple syrup for no high fructose corn syrup!
- This recipe makes about 1 3/4 cups (I usually get four servings from it). Store in the refrigerator for up to a week.
