This is a simple way to replicate Applebee’s great honey pepper sauce. I never have to miss that sauce again!
I’m the kind of person who falls in love with one thing on a restaurant’s menu, and I’ll get that every single time I’m there. The honey pepper chicken mac was that Applebee’s meal for me. This is a fantastic vegan replica of the sauce! I had never been able to find a vegan version anywhere, and I was up to the task. Now, there is always a jar of this in my fridge! It’s excellent with vegan chicken, but it’s also a great sauce for tofu, impossible burgers, and so much more. The process is as simple as can be – all you need to do is measure, combine, and heat!
Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup agave or maple syrup
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup pineapple juice
- 3 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1/4 tsp paprika
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
Method:
- Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan.
- Bring it to a boil, reduce it to a simmer, and cook uncovered for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Turn off the heat and let it cool for 5 minutes.
- That’s it! Serve over your protein of choice and save the rest. Enjoy & share!
